This Saturday, June 26 Hands Across the Sands will be at it again! In hopes to stop dependence on fossil fuels, this organization is once again joining hands across the nation’s beaches, parks and cities to stop the dangers of offshore oil drilling.
Hands Across the Sands was founded back in October of 2009. Dan Rauschkolb the founder organized a statewide event on February 13, 2010. All over Florida people gathered to send a message to their legislators and Governor Crist that they did not want the offshore drilling bans lifted in Florida waters. This Saturday it’s happening again but not only in Florida, all over the nation and the world!
Hands Across The Sand’s mission is to change our engery policy away from its dependence on fossil fuels and into the light of clean energy. The aim is to convince our leaders to abandon expanded offshore oil drilling and adopt policies that encourage clean and renewable energy resources.
This weekend beaches in Orlando are participating, so you can join hands!

Are the Yellow Pages Going Green?
Yes! You can now choose whether or not you want to receive the bright yellow book. The Yellow Pages have finally taken notice to how many people haven’t been using their actual books. And they are inviting you to Go Green with the Yellow Pages . I cannot remember the last time I used my beloved phone book. I usually go online and find the information faster than it’d take me to go through my book. Right now the only use for my Yellow Pages is to collect dust. It’s a very easy process, you simply input your information and they’ll take you off the receiving list. If you want your bright book back then it’s only a call away. I’ve already signed up, will you?

Aluminum Foil: no longer just for cooking!
We all use aluminum foil for cooking and preserving food but www.realsimple.com has found many other uses for this common household staple.
Aluminum Foil as Wrinkle Remover
To get wrinkles out of silk, wool, and rayon clothes that can’t take direct heat, place a piece of foil on your ironing board, then lay the garment flat over it. With the steam button down, pass the iron three to four inches over the fabric several times. Wet heat radiating from the foil helps smooth out wrinkles.
Aluminum Foil for a Clear TV Signal
If your DVD player is stacked on top of the TV (or vice versa) and the picture is fuzzy, the two electromagnetic fields may be commingling, confusing the signals. (This usually happens with plastic casings; with metal it’s less likely.) Slip a sheet of foil between the machines to separate the fields.

Certainly, you want to be able to shop and give back to your community. The country appreciates customers using green
reusable bags and shopping for organic foods, but there is more that can be done. What about shopping locally? When you shop locally, you may not see a ton of money go back into the community, but the benefits of shopping locally are even better.
